: This study investigates the relationship between disaster response self-efficacy and flood preparedness behavior among Filipino youth in Las Piñas City (LPC), with frequent flood experience (FFE) examined as a moderating variable. Given the Philippines’ high exposure to flooding, strengthening youth preparedness is essential for disaster risk reduction. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design with moderation analysis was employed to examine the relationships among disaster response self-efficacy, flood preparedness behavior, and frequent flood experience (FFE), and to test the moderating role of FFE. The study involved 269 youth respondents aged 15–18 from Las Piñas City, selected through quota sampling. Data were collected using adapted survey instruments with established reliability and validity. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and moderation analysis using Hayes’ PROCESS Macro. Findings revealed that respondents demonstrated very high levels of disaster response self-efficacy (M = 3.43) and flood preparedness behavior (M = 3.35). Preparedness was strongest during and after flood events, while pre-flood preparedness was relatively lower. A strong and significant positive relationship was found between disaster response self-efficacy and flood preparedness behavior (r = .806, p < .001). Regression results further indicated that self-efficacy was significantly associated with preparedness behavior (β = 0.806, R 2 = 0.649, p < .001). However, FFE was not a significantly associated factor and did not moderate the relationship between self-efficacy and preparedness. These findings highlight that self-efficacy is a key factor associated with disaster preparedness among youth, while prior FFE alone is not necessarily associated with higher levels of readiness. The study emphasizes the need for interventions that strengthen youth confidence and proactive preparedness strategies before disaster events.
