Demonstrates voltage-mediated control of magnon propagation in NiO, suggesting advances in spintronic circuits.
Although magnons in antiferromagnetic insulators exhibit terahertz dynamics and zero stray fields, their electrical neutrality severely restricts direct electrical control. To overcome this, we designed a magnetoelectric heterostructure integrating a piezoelectric substrate with Ta/Pt/NiO/NiFe/Ta layers, enabling voltage-mediated manipulation of magnon transport in NiO. In situ electric field application induces piezoelectric strain, which reorients the antiferromagnetic Néel order and modulates the magnetic domain configuration. Spin torque effective field measurements show a 77.93% modulation in magnon transmission efficiency under 5 kV/cm. Based on this mechanism, we propose a reconfigurable spin logic architecture capable of executing NOR and NAND Boolean operations without external magnetic bias. Our findings establish a voltage-controlled platform for scalable and programmable antiferromagnetic magnonic circuits.
