Innovative methods enhance dentist competence in therapeutic and orthopedic dentistry, suggesting improved patient care.
The article analyzes innovative methods of professional development for dentists working in therapeutic and orthopedic dentistry. In modern dental practice, the professional competence of a dentist is no longer limited to traditional clinical knowledge. It includes digital diagnostic literacy, evidence-based treatment planning, interdisciplinary thinking, communication with patients, infection control, ethical decision-making and lifelong learning. Therapeutic dentistry requires advanced competence in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of caries, pulpitis, periodontitis and periodontal diseases. Orthopedic dentistry, in turn, demands knowledge of prosthetic rehabilitation, occlusion, digital impressions, CAD/CAM technologies, implant-supported prosthetics and functional-aesthetic restoration. Therefore, advanced training programs should be based on innovative pedagogical technologies, simulation learning, case-based education, clinical mentoring, digital dentistry, problem-based learning and objective assessment of professional competencies.
