Geological Structure of the Central Group of Islands of the Greater Kuril Ridge (Simushir, Rasshua, Yankicha, Ryponkicha Islands), Based on K–Ar Dating

• The aim is to determine the ages of Neogene–Quaternary igneous rocks in the Central Kuril Islands using K–Ar dating.
• Conducted K–Ar dating on Neogene–Quaternary igneous rocks from Simushir, Rasshua, Yankicha, and Ryponkicha Islands.
• Obtained five age determinations from the Okruglovsky and Golovnin volcanic complexes on Simushir Island.
• Dated rocks from the Levashov and Golovnin complexes on Rasshua, Ryponkicha, and Yankicha Islands.
• Simushir Island yielded ages from 5.7 to 3.0 Ma for the Okruglovsky Volcanic Complex and 0.75 Ma for the Golovnin complex.
• Rasshua and Ryponkicha islands provided ages of 2.4 to 1.3 Ma for the Levashov Volcanic Complex.
• Yankicha Island rocks from the Golovnin complex were dated at 0.74 Ma.
