Examines anthracite's effect on coke consumption in small blast furnaces, indicating potential efficiency gains.
Abctract —The results of industrial trials using lump anthracite in the charge of small blast furnaces (260 and 212 m3) at PJSC Nadezhdinskii Metallurgical Plant to reduce specific coke consumption are presented. In the absence of pulverized coal injection systems and dependence on external supplies of coke and coal products, the possibility of partially substituting coke with anthracite is investigated. The methodology includes a comparative analysis of technical and economic indicators (TEIs) for various periods from 2024 to 2025 with layer-by-layer loading of anthracite into the charge. The scientific novelty of the study lies in establishing quantitative patterns of anthracite’s influence on blast furnace performance specifically in small-volume furnaces, in contrast to previously studied high-capacity units (>1000 m3).
