To assess clinical factors, service type, and outcomes associated with canine parvovirus infection in dogs.
Cross-sectional study conducted at KNUST Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana.
Included 211 dogs, with 129 CPV-positive and 82 CPV-negative based on antigen test results.
Data collected included demographics, vaccination status, clinical signs, service type, and outcomes.
Overall mortality rate among CPV-positive dogs was 26.4% (34/129) vs. 8.5% (7/82) in CPV-negative dogs.
Significant independent predictors of CPV infection included haemorrhagic diarrhoea (OR = 6.84) and vomiting (OR = 2.75).
CPV-positive dogs were 7.57 times more likely to require inpatient care than CPV-negative dogs (p < 0.001).
