Examines nutrient effects on Eucalyptus growth in aluminium-rich forest soil, suggesting nutrient interventions enhance seedling biomass.
In a glass houses experiment Ca and P addition to an Al rich acid forest soil (pHs = 4.04 and % Al saturation = 91.24) improved Eucalyptus camaldulensis growth both independently and interactively over a growth period of about 12 weeks. A combination of 50 mg P/kg soil and an equivalent amount of 10,000 kg pure CaCO3/ha applied as CaCO3 and CaSO4 at a ratio of 2:1 increased total seedling biomass by about 17 times. Application of K.S. and Mo did not have any significant effect.
