Investigates Kashizashiki distribution in Ponto-cho, indicating changes in traditional Kagai appearances.
Kagai is a Japanese term for traditional entertainment districts. Ponto-cho is one of the five Kagai in Kyoto. However, the number of Ochaya has been decreasing in recent years, and the original appearance of Kagai has changed. The purpose of this study is to investigate the distribution of Kashizashiki in Ponto-cho based on prewar historical documents and to clarify, as much as possible, the appearance of the Kagai in its heyday.
