Examines residual seismic capacity in wooden houses, suggesting safety improvements after multiple earthquakes.
This paper presents the effect of cumulative damage on the performance degradation of wooden houses subjected to multiple earthquakes. Regarding the residual seismic capacity ratio R in the post-earthquake damage classification guidelines, time-history response analysis confirmed that the guideline formula generally provides a safety margin for various shear walls. The effects of damage sustained in the previous year’s earthquake were examined during the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. The guideline’s formula of R primarily explained the additional strength required to prevent collapse.
