Identifies location changes of public facilities and spatial development of public libraries, suggesting improved accessibility enhances visitor numbers.
This study clarifies the trend of location changes of public facilities converted from commercial buildings and the spatial development in cases converted into public libraries. The findings are summarized in the following three points: Firstly, many public facilities relocated to commercial buildings prioritize accessibility from rail stations, resulting in a shift closer to station. Secondly, facilities located near stations have seen a greater increase in visitor numbers after relocation compared to those situated farther away. Thirdly, within libraries, original commercial spaces have been effectively utilized to create more spacious areas for visitors to stay.
