Analyzes combustibility differences in wood species, suggesting applications for fire-proof construction.
With heating from the fire-proof test, the surface layer of wood carbonizes. Therefore, whether wooden fire-proof members extinguish or continue to combust depends on the combustion of the charcoal. Thermogravimetric analysis on Japanese cedar and Japanese larch was conducted and the differences in combustibility for two species were analyzed. A 90-minute fire-proof test with heating from two sides was conducted on a wooden fire-proof member utilizing the differences in combustibility. By utilizing the differences in combustibility, it is considered possible to produce wooden fire-proof members that extinguish combustion.
