Evaluates influence of wake waves on floating architecture stability, suggesting robust design.
The Universal Block Floating System (UBFS) is a system developed for simple construction of floating platform for various applications on water, such as floating architecture. In June 2023, the first full-scale demonstration tests for floating architecture using the UBFS on water was conducted in Lake Hamana. Measurements of the external forces and the motions of the floating architecture revealed that the wake waves had a stronger effect on the facility than the wind during this measurement period, and that no motions occurred that many humans would find uncomfortable.
