Magnetometer survey identifies magnetic anomalies in land north of Lynt Road, suggesting historical features.
The detailed magnetic survey was carried out using a SENSYS MAGNETO MX V3 6 channel hand-pushed cart-based system. The instrument has 6 fluxgate gradiometers (FGM650) spaced 0.5m apart with readings recorded at 20Hz which equates to a survey resolution of 0.5m by 0.15m. The results indicate the presence of a small number of magnetically enhanced anomalies within the northern part of the site that may correspond to extant earthworks. Circular anomalies close by lie within the area of ridge and furrow and it is not clear if they pre or post date it. In the southern part of the site there is a small triangular zone of magnetic enhancement that is situated where a former field boundary and a series of land drains lie. To the south of this are a group of pit-like features; however, their origin is uncertain.
