Observational study explores urban elements' use and human gatherings on campus, suggesting insights for design.
In this study, to gain insights into the appropriate use of urban elements, we observed the use of fixed tables and benches installed in the plaza in front of Building No. 7 at the Setagaya Campus of Tokyo City University. Based on the collected data, diagrams of human gathering patterns were created, and group size, occupied area, and occupancy rate were calculated. The results showed that the size and density of the gatherings varied depending on the number of people.
