Abstract The study investigated sports as a correlate of quality education and sustainable national development. A sample size of three hundred (300) students from public secondary schools in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State was used for the study. The researchers used survey design of the descriptive type of research for the study, the research instrument used for this study was a self-structured closed ended questionnaire designed by the researchers. The face and content validity of the instrument was ensured. Reliability of the instrument was ascertained using split-half method. Inferential statistics of Chi-square (x2) and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) were used to test the hypotheses postulated at 0.05 level of significance. Based on the results, the researchers concluded that there is a relationship between sports and quality education in achieving sustainable development, also it was concluded that sports influence education aspiration of secondary school students, thereby leading to sustainable national development. The researchers recommended that orientation programmes should be organised for secondary school students in order to make them understand the benefits of participating in sports and its influence in peace and national development, state government should give scholarship to students who participate in sports so as to motivate and encourage them for better and greater educational aspiration.
