Observational
Observational study observes early ejection fraction improvement in mitral repair recipients, indicating unexpected myocardial recovery despite increased afterload.
In patients with significant mitral regurgitation (MR), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is highly load-dependent and may overestimate intrinsic myocardial contractility. After mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER), LVEF often declines due to increased afterload, yet some patients demonstrate early LVEF improvement. Whether this reflects true myocardial recovery or altered loading conditions, and its prognostic relevance, remains unclear. This study aimed to identify factors associated with early LVEF improvement after M-TEER and to determine its clinical significance.
