Palladium-catalyzed reactions create versatile diene products in organic synthesis, enhancing structural diversity.
A palladium-catalyzed ring-opening defluoroarylation of gem -difluorinated spiro[2.2]pentanes with arylboronic acids has been developed. A diverse range of multisubstituted 2-fluoro-1,3-dienes was efficiently prepared in moderate to excellent yields. The resulting conjugated diene products serve as versatile synthetic precursors, facilitating downstream derivatization through Diels–Alder reactions, cross-coupling reactions, and oxidation/reduction transformations. A variety of highly useful structural motifs were constructed, thereby expanding the utility of gem -difluorinated spiro[2.2]pentanes as versatile building blocks in organic synthesis.
