CORRIGENDUM (corrects one decomposition; preserves the paper's physics and the downstream 137) — T167's Cartan partition rank (E8) = 8 = 4grav + 1EM + 3colour assigns the colour sector the number 3, which is the DIMENSION of the fundamental (the three colour charges R, G, B), not the RANK of SU (3) (which is 2). The rigorous partition is 8 = 2 + 6 under E8 ⊃ SU (3) x E6, with electroweak and gravitational directions inside the rank-6 of E6. A rank-versus-dimension conflation (a partition of rank 8 must use group ranks, not representation dimensions). The photon/graviton spin physics is UNAFFECTED, and 1/alpha = 137 (T169) is UNDISTURBED — the corpus already records (T169 Running Addendum) that 137 is a settled E8 identity explicitly not under revision; this note confirms the 3colour correction does not touch it. The contribution of this note is the correction of the 3colour error itself, which appears uncorrected across T167, T168, T169, and the T169 addenda. === DESCRIPTION (abstract) === Photonic Universe Hypothesis (PUH) — Corrigendum to T167. THE ERROR: T167 (Spin-1 Photon and Spin-2 Graviton, DOI 10. 5281/zenodo. 19423388) states rank (E8) = 8 = 4grav + 1EM + 3colour. The total is right (E8 has rank 8) but "3colour" uses the DIMENSION of the colour fundamental (3 = R, G, B) where it must use the RANK of SU (3), which is N-1 = 2 (the Cartan is spanned by two diagonal Gell-Mann generators T₃, T₈). T167 even contains its own correction a few lines later ("E8 ⊃ SU (3) x E6 gives rank 2 + 6 = 8") without resolving the contradiction. This corrigendum resolves it. THE CORRECT PARTITION: rank (E8) = 8 = rank (SU (3) ) + rank (E6) = 2 + 6, under the maximal decomposition E8 ⊃ SU (3) x E6. Colour contributes rank 2; the remaining rank 6 lives in E6, within which the electroweak (SU (2) L rank 1, U (1) Y rank 1) and gravitational directions reside. A consistent fully-split form is 8 = 2 + 2 + 4. The colour entry is 2, not 3; there is no standalone "rank-4 gravity block" beside a "rank-3 colour block" — the heuristic 4 + 1 + 3 is withdrawn. DIAGNOSIS — RANK-VERSUS-DIMENSION CONFLATION: the error mixes a representation DIMENSION (3 = colour fundamental) into a partition that must use group RANKS (rank SU (3) = 2, rank SU (2) = 1, rank U (1) = 1). rank (E8) = 8 is a Cartan-subalgebra statement; its partition among sectors must use ranks throughout. 4 + 1 + 3 mixed a spacetime count (4 grav), a rank (1 EM), and a dimension (3 colour). The corrected 2 + 6 (or 2 + 2 + 4) uses ranks throughout. WHAT STANDS — T167 PHYSICS (unaffected): photon = PHASE fluctuation of the E8 condensate around U (1) in E8 ⊃ E7 x U (1) → connection 1-form → spin-1. Graviton = SHAPE fluctuation of the E8 lattice metric (fluctuation of the degree-2 Casimir C₁) → symmetric tensor → spin-2. Neither derivation uses the 4 + 1 + 3 partition (they use E7 x U (1) and the Killing form). T167's title result — both spins from one condensate, phase vs shape — stands in full. Only its auxiliary Theorem 4 partition is corrected. 137 IS ALREADY SETTLED (not a finding of this note): the T169 Running Addendum states explicitly that 1/alpha₀ = dim (E7) + rank (E8) /2 = 133 + 4 = 137 is "a theorem of E8 Lie algebra, " "not under revision. " This corrigendum does NOT re-derive or claim credit for 137's survival; it cites the corpus's existing position and only confirms the 3colour correction leaves it untouched (the 4 is rank (E8) /2 = 4, partition-independent; the independent 240 - 133 + 30 = 137 uses no partition). The one reach into T169 is its PROSE (and its Second Addendum, 19431882) which justify the 4 via "4grav / colour (3) excluded" — amended to cite rank (E8) /2 = 4 directly. A wording fix, no effect on the value. WHAT STANDS — T168 (Gertsenshtein, unaffected): uses the physical 4D graviton polarization count (2 physical after gauge-fixing) and the (56, ±1) mediating sector from E7 x U (1), neither of which involves the colour-rank error. NET EFFECT: one auxiliary decomposition corrected (3colour → rank 2; 4 + 1 + 3 → 2 + 6) wherever it appears — across T167, T168, T169, and the T169 addenda; the underlying physics and the already-settled numerical results (notably 137, which the corpus records as not under revision) untouched. THE CONTRIBUTION of this note is precisely the correction of the 3colour rank-versus-dimension error, which had propagated uncorrected through the whole photon/graviton/fine-structure cluster.
