Shows the efficient synthesis of compounds in a one-pot strategy, suggesting a simpler approach to novel derivatives.
A highly effective three-component reaction method was described for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromene derivatives by refluxing malononitrile, assorted aromatic aldehydes, and 1,3-cyclohexadione in EtOH with catalytic amounts of triethylamine. Intermediates were obtained in excellent yields in a short time in a one-pot procedure. The obtained intermediates were reacted with cyclohexanone and AlCl3 to give new tacrine derivatives. In this study, 14 different compounds were synthesized and structurally characterized, including 7 intermediates and 7 final products. The key advantages of this multi-component approach include simple reaction conditions, readily available and inexpensive starting materials, and elevated yields with comparatively short reaction times.
