This study examined the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public administration within Afikpo North Local Government council of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Adopting a qualitative documentary research design, the study analyzed secondary data from scholarly journals, government publications, and policy reports published between 2016-2025. Findings revealed that AI adoption within the local government remains nascent, with administrative processes still predominantly manual. The study identified significant potential for AI to enhance administrative efficiency through automation of routine tasks and evidence-based decision-making. However, major barriers include inadequate digital infrastructure, insufficient funding, limited technical expertise, and concerns regarding data privacy and cybersecurity. The study concludes that successful AI implementation requires strategic investments in infrastructure, human capacity development, and comprehensive ethical governance frameworks. Recommendations include increased digital infrastructure investment, continuous staff training, and development of comprehensive AI adoption policies.
