This paper is based on a study that examined how community education was provided to women as a means of preparing them to implement Community Development Initiatives (Community development initiative). The study intended to find out whether these modalities adequately prepare them to implement Community development initiatives successfully, as their income-generating activities fail. The study employed a case study design and used purposive and convenience sampling techniques to select 30 participants. Data were generated through semi-structured interviews, observation and focus group discussion and analysed thematically. The findings revealed that community education was provided through three stages: awareness creation for all community members, capacity building and self-appraisal. Methods used to educate the women included lecture, questions and answers, group discussion and role-play. However, limited preparation time, facilitators’ lack of adult learning expertise, and women’s low engagement hindered effectiveness. The study contributes to a three-stage model of community education as a framework for strengthening women’s implementation of Community development initiatives. It highlights the need for tailored approaches that integrate adult learning principles and responsive facilitation, with implications for policy and practice in designing community education programmes that genuinely empower women and sustain income-generating activities.
