Demonstrates enantioselective synthesis of atropisomeric phenols, indicating a valuable new method in organic chemistry.
A catalytic system based on copper and Box ligands has been developed for the highly enantioselective synthesis of atropisomeric phenols through dynamic kinetic ring‐opening of cyclic diaryliodonium salts with water. This protocol employs an inexpensive and readily accessible catalytic system, delivering the desired products in excellent enantioselectivities, across a broad substrate scope while providing synthetically valuable atropisomeric phenol scaffolds. In addition, the regioselectivity of this transformation has been investigated and discussed in detail.
