Randomized trial explores stylistic features in translations, suggesting a multimethod approach enhances accuracy.
This study explores the stylistic characteristics of three Turkish literary translators using a corpus-based approach and proposes a method to distinguish individual translators’ style. We conduct an analysis of three translator corpora and extract their stylistic features on lexical level. These features are compared against a reference corpus that consists of Turkish translations of literary works to isolate literary translator-specific features. To verify these extracted features, authorship and translatorship attribution techniques are used to evaluate their reliability in distinguishing the translators’ style. The results underline the importance of keyword analysis, as well as the benefits of using a larger corpus to have more reliable results to identify translatorship. This study highlights the benefits of a multimethod approach to translator style analysis.
