Scientometric review reveals trends and gaps in research on limestone calcined clay cement and sustainability.
The pursuit for sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint in the construction sector has led researchers to investigate a novel approach to decrease CO 2 emissions for producing ordinary Portland cement. Using naturally occurring kaolin clay as a substitute for clinker exhibited properties similar to those of ordinary Portland cement concrete. This study offers a comprehensive approach using a scientometric review of limestone calcined clay cement. This study involves a scientometric analysis employing mapping technology and an extensive review to identify the most influential keywords, highly cited authors, prominent journals, significant publications, active institutions, and research about limestone calcined clay cement. The research examined 846 important bibliographic entries sourced from the SCOPUS database. The discussion includes the chemical composition and hydration of limestone calcined clay cement (LC3), the production of LC3 raw materials, mix design, durability, sustainability, application, the limitations of the research, and identified research gaps. The research confirms the increase in intensity in the research of limestone calcined clay cement form 2020 till date but further research is required in material optimization, structural implication and industrial scalability.
