This case report reveals the rare occurrence of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma causing intussusception in an 81-year-old male, highlighting the need for early diagnosis.
Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) is an exceedingly rare, aggressive mesenchymal tumor, with primary small-bowel involvement scarcely reported. We present an 81-year-old male with recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding and jejunojejunal intussusception, found to have small-bowel UPS. Diagnosis was made via video capsule endoscopy, enteroscopy, and histopathology. UPS in the small bowel presents nonspecifically, often requiring advanced imaging for detection. Surgical resection remains the primary treatment, with chemotherapy or radiotherapy for unresectable cases. Despite intervention, UPS carries high recurrence and mortality rates, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis and lifelong surveillance.
