IMPACTThis article investigates the impact of digital transformation on government expenditure efficiency in China. The study found that government digitalization can significantly contribute to the efficiency of government spending. This positive effect was stronger in areas with a higher degree of marketization and greater fiscal transparency. This study’s findings offer insights for other countries in terms of improving both fiscal transparency and the sustainability of public finances.
