Demonstrates improved efficiency and reduced output ripple in low power applications.
A single‐inductor, single‐input dual‐output (SIDO) DC‐DC converter operates under varying load conditions and employs switching strategies such as power‐distribution and time‐multiplexing. However, conventional approaches suffer from increased dynamic variations, higher output ripple, and significant cross‐regulation issues under light‐load conditions. In addition, switching losses become dominant, resulting in reduced efficiency. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a deterministic super‐period pulse‐skipping modulation framework that constrains the nonlinear sampled‐data dynamics during discontinuous conduction mode operation in dual‐output converters. The proposed deterministic structure enables systematic bifurcation‐based stability verification, which is not explicitly addressed in conventional adaptive or event‐driven PSM schemes. The impact of the proposed scheme on cross‐regulation, ripple characteristics, efficiency, and stability is investigated under varying load conditions using bifurcation analysis. Simulation and experimental validation are performed for output currents and in the range of 20–200 mA, while maintaining regulated output voltages of 2.5 and 3.3 V. Compared to conventional pulse‐width modulation (PWM), the proposed method achieves a relative efficiency improvement of approximately 2%–3% in the light‐load region.
