Examines solubility dynamics of Li2CO3 in a mixed ionic solution, indicating crucial factors for industrial application.
The turbidity technology was employed to determine the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li 2 CO 3 in the mixed solution of the LiCl–CaCl 2 –NdCl 3 –PrCl 3 –FeCl 3 environment over a temperature span from 293.15 to 363.15 K. The experimental data show that the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li 2 CO 3 in a LiCl solution are mainly affected by temperature and concentration of LiCl solution. In addition, increasing the concentration of the Na 2 CO 3 solution significantly alters the supersolubility and metastable zone width of Li 2 CO 3 . The addition of impurity ions (Ca 2+, Nd 3+, Pr 3+, Fe 3+ ) noticeably increases the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li 2 CO 3 . The effect mechanism of impurity ions on the solubility, supersolubility, and metastable zone width of Li 2 CO 3 in solution is the salting out of LiCl and salting in of CaCl 2, NdCl 3, PrCl 3, and FeCl 3 . Overall, this research provides fundamental data for the industrial-scale manufacture of Li 2 CO 3 via crystallization technology.
