Retrospective content analysis highlights ethical reporting challenges and judicial visibility in digital media about child sexual abuse in Türkiye.
This study examined representations of child sexual abuse (CSA) in digital news media in Türkiye, focusing on ethical reporting practices, victim–perpetrator characteristics, and the visibility of judicial and forensic processes. A retrospective content analysis was conducted on 302 news reports published between 2015 and 2024 across the ten most accessed online news platforms. Ethical concerns were common, including potentially identifying disclosures and limited anonymization. Judicial and forensic processes were often incompletely reported. The findings indicate fragmented media representations of CSA and highlight the need for ethically informed reporting to reduce secondary victimization and improve public understanding of judicial and forensic procedures.
