Novel bacterial strains Celerinatantimonas sediminis and Celerinatantimonas marina were isolated from mangrove sediment and seawater, indicating biodiversity in marine ecosystems.
Two bacterial strains, designated G-4 T and YJH-8 T , were isolated from mangrove sediment and surface seawater of China. The novel strains, similar to previously described Celerinatantimonas species, are Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped, motile by a single polar flagellum, oxidase-negative and catalase-positive. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strains G-4 T and YJH-8 T are members of the genus Celerinatantimonas , closely related to Celerinatantimonas diazotrophica S-G2-2 T (98.4% and 97.3%, respectively). The digital DNA–DNA hybridization (dDDH) and average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between strain G-4 T and the type strains C. diazotrophica S-G2-2 T are 24.6% and 82.3%, respectively. The dDDH and ANI values for strain YJH-8 T in comparison with the type strains C. diazotrophica S-G2-2 T are 19.1% and 71.1%, respectively. The dDDH and ANI values between strains G-4 T and YJH-8 T are 19.3% and 71.3%, respectively. The G+C contents of the chromosomal DNA of strains G-4 T and YJH-8 T were 43.47 mol% and 44.88 mol%, respectively. Strains G-4 T and YJH-8 T contained ubiquinone-8 (87.20%/95.87%) and ubiquinone-7 (12.8%/4.13%) as predominant ubiquinones. The polar lipids of strain G-4 T are diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), aminophospholipid (APL), phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine (PMME) and phospholipids (PL). The polar lipids of strain YJH-8 T are PE, PG, glycophospholipid (GPL) and APL. The combined genotypic and phenotypic data show that strains G-4 T and YJH-8 T represent two novel species within the genus Celerinatantimonas , for which the names Celerinatantimonas sediminis sp. nov. and Celerinatantimonas marina sp. nov. are proposed, with type strain G-4 T (=KCTC 8221 T =MCCC 1A17872 T ) and strain YJH-8 T (=KCTC 8222 T =MCCC 1A15587 T ).
