Addendum uncovers an inheritance gap in the definitional status of m, indicating a new conceptualization.
Paper 16 conducted a systematic inventory of the definitional status of six elements within the E=mc Thought Principle series and determined that structural conviction (m) had undergone no redefinition since its introduction in Paper 1, classifying it as settled alongside transition velocity (c) and fluctuation (Δ). The present addendum revisits that determination. A re-reading of Paper 5 (Forgetting as the Generator of Time), prompted by a structural comparison with the established physical account of mass generation through chiral symmetry breaking — an account brought to attention by an unrelated and still-unresolved 2026 experiment, but not dependent on that experiment's outcome — shows that Paper 5 reconceptualized m — not as a given initial condition but as a configurational structure generated from within, possessing at least two states — m_local and m_field. Paper 4 first introduced the generative direction of m; Paper 5 developed it into an explicit configurational account. This reconceptualization was never re-engaged by Paper 13's treatment of m-fixation at the static singularity, nor by Paper 14's δ-to-m correspondence, nor by Paper 16's own audit. The present addendum therefore reclassifies m from “Settled” to “Inheritance gap,” on the same basis as the η correspondence identified in Paper 15. The addendum does not propose a resolution to this gap; consistent with the diagnostic stance of Papers 15 and 16, it records the gap's existence and leaves its resolution to future work beginning with Paper 17.
