This paper considers the possibilities of simplifying the solution of certain classes of optimal control problems. These include reducing the problem dimension by switching to a new independent variable, Krotov’s transformation and converting state variables into controls, constructing an external reachability set, switching to new state variables, replacing linear differential equations with an integral convolution equation, and others. Examples of applying the presented approaches to real-world problems are given.
