This essay introduces a new approach to visualizing racism in education research, highlighting marginalized communities' perspectives.
This essay introduces “QuantCrit epistemic network analysis” (QENA), a methodological approach that integrates quantitative critical race theory (QuantCrit), Quantitative ethnography (QE), and epistemic network analysis (ENA) to examine how race and ethnicity inform meaning-making in education research. Drawing on W. E. B. Du Bois’s legacy of empirical visual storytelling, the essay explores how computational tools can make racialized meaning-making visible. QENA challenges dominant statistical norms and centers racially and multiply marginalized communities’ epistemologies to advance an anti-racist methodology by visualizing how they navigate, interpret, and resist structural racism through discourse.
