Molecular perovskite energetic crystals have attracted increasing attention in recent years. Ternary structure optimized the oxygen balance in the design of energetic materials, increase charge efficiency and crystal density, reduce hygroscopicity, enhance explosive performance and overcome the weaknesses of traditional binary structure technology. (H 2 dabco)NH 4 (ClO 4 ) 3 DAP-4 as the first metal-free molecular perovskite energetic material, which exhibits a high symmetry between the closely aligned organic fuel and oxidizer components in the molecular structure. Due to the exceptional thermal stability, outstanding detonation performance, cost-effective preparation, and resistance to humidity absorption, DAP-4 has garnered significant attention from global scholars. Despite the growing body of research on the physicochemical properties and applications of DAP-4, there remains a notable lack of comprehensive and in-depth investigation in recent years. The work provides a thorough review of the fundamental properties, catalytic thermal decomposition, combustion and desensitization of DAP-4. Additionally, the article explores various applications of DAP-4 in the field of energetic materials, came up with both the current challenges and potential solutions in DAP-4 research.
