The second-generation Micra AV2 leadless pacemaker introduces updated algorithms to improve atrio-ventricular synchrony at higher sinus rates and extends projected median longevity to 15.6 years.
The second-generation Micra AV2 leadless pacemaker introduces algorithmic improvements designed to enhance atrioventricular synchrony at higher sinus rates and increase device longevity.
Leadless pacemakers are considered one of the major technological advancements in cardiology in recent years. Many efforts are made to provide physiological atrio-ventricular (AV) pacing. With the first-generation leadless ventricular, dual, dual (VDD) pacemaker, Micra AV (Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA), a high variability in AV synchrony was reported. A second generation, Micra AV2, is now available for clinical use, promising smarter and higher automatic AV synchrony. This article reviews the different improvements proposed for this new device.

Garweg et al. (2024) conducted an editorial in Bradycardia and atrio-ventricular block. Micra AV2 leadless pacemaker vs. Micra AV (first generation) was evaluated. The second-generation Micra AV2 leadless pacemaker introduces updated algorithms to improve atrio-ventricular synchrony at higher sinus rates and extends projected median longevity to 15.6 years.
