Pilot trial examines feasibility of implementation strategies to enhance diabetes coaching adoption in families.
Diabetes Coaching is an evidence-based multiple-family group intervention for families of adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) who have higher glycemic levels. This intervention has been delivered at Nemours Children’s Hospital as part of standard T1D care. However, engagement and use of this intervention dropped off over the years and few families receive this care. This single-site pilot implementation trial examines the acceptability and feasibility of packages of implementation strategies designed to improve the adoption and reach of Diabetes Coaching to families. Implementation strategies are methods to shift provider/staff behavior to improve the integration of evidence-based care into standard care. Participants in this implementation pilot trial are professionals at Nemours Children's Hospital -Delaware (NCH-D; i.e., medical and psychology T1D providers, leaders, administrative staff).
