Lead-free piezoelectric (1- x )(K 0.48 Na 0.52 )NbO 3 – x LiSbO 3 [(1- x )KNN– x LS] ceramics were prepared by conventional sintering. A morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between the orthorhombic and tetragonal phases was identified in the composition range of 0.04< x <0.06. The ceramics near the MPB exhibit a strong compositional dependence, and good piezoelectric properties, temperature stability, and aging characteristics. It was found that the samples with 5 mol % LS exhibited enhanced electrical properties ( d 33 ∼262 pC/N, k p ∼46%, T c ∼373 °C, T o–t ∼60 °C). These results show that (1- x )KNN– x LS ceramic is a promising lead-free piezoelectric material.
