The paper compares the results of a number of workers with the predictions of published formulae. It is shown that expressions due to Bruggeman accord with the observations but those due to Böttcher, and Van Vessem and Bijvoet are only valid over a limited range of permittivities. An empirical expression is given which is adequate for all available relevant results.
