A flash photolysis apparatus is described which may be used for studies in the fields of kinetic spectroscopy and flash spectroscopy. The flash tube is constructed from two concentric quartz tubes with a length of 1m. Both electrodes are mounted at one end. Duration of the light pulse was minimized through a careful matching of the flash lamp to the discharge circuit. At an energy of 2000 J light pulses with a half-width of 3-6 mu s are emitted.
