THE growth rate of a tissue may be considered to depend in part upon the amount and nature of the substances available for its nutrition. If it is found that a specific chemical substance accelerates tissue growth it should be possible to reverse this effect provided that the concentration of such a sub- stance in circulation could be reduced.
