The time correlation function for homodyne detection of light scattered by a sample of poly(methylmethacrylate) for a range of temperatures below the glass temperature has been observed for polarized scattered light and is approximately a double exponential decay. The shorter correlation time corresponds moderately well with the known correlation frequency for side- chain molecular reorientational motion. It is considered that this new method will be valuable in the investigation of motional processes in polymers.
