Demonstrates improved energy storage in BCZT ceramics through BZZ doping, indicating better applications for capacitors.
Researches on Ba0.85Ca0.15Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 (BCZT) ceramics in terms of the energy storage applications have shown that their practical applications are limited by their low effective energy storage density (Wrec) and energy storage efficiency (η). To further enhance the effective energy storage density (Wrec) and energy storage efficiency (η) of BCZT ceramics, this work dopes BCZT ceramics with various proportions of Bi(Zn0.5Zr0.5)O3(BZZ) ((1 – x)BCZT–xBZZ). Dense surface microstructure and small grain size of 3.11 μm are realized for x = 10%. Under breakdown electric field strength (Eb) of 100 kV/cm, x = 10% achieve Wrec of 0.80 J/cm3 and η of 84.3%. The ferroelectric performance is enhanced by appropriate BZZ doping amount, which densifies the system, refines grain size and facilitates the system’s relaxor behavior. The enhancement in ferroelectric property is beneficial to the realization of miniaturization for the application of ceramic capacitors.
