Why the study?
Does the lack of CD4 or CD8 molecules prevent the induction of experimental autoimmune myocarditis in mice?
Population
Mice lacking CD4 or CD8 molecules after gene targeting (CD8-/- and CD4-/- mice)
Comparison
Injection with cardiac myosin to induce… vs CD4+/-CD8+/- control mice

Should not yet alter myocarditis management in immunodeficiencies; leaves open T-cell-independent initiation mechanisms for human validation.
Does the lack of CD4 or CD8 molecules prevent the induction of experimental autoimmune myocarditis in mice?
The lack of CD4+ or CD8+ T cells does not prevent the initiation of autoimmune myocarditis, but these cells regulate disease severity, which may explain autoimmunity in CD4 immunodeficiencies.
