Analytical evaluation demonstrates accurate detection of corn flour adulteration in paprika powder using near-infrared spectroscopy, highlighting its potential for rapid food quality assurance.
Paprika powder, a spice known for imparting flavour, and aroma in foods has recently become by fraudulent activities involving adulterants such as corn flour and has quality assurance (QA) measures. Near spectroscopy (NIRS) is a non-destructive gaining grounds in QA applications. The applied NIRS to detect paprika powder with corn flour. Chemometric evaluation showed that NIRS could discriminate cornflour with 100% classification accuracy. was also predicted with high accuracies of determination (R2CV) between 0.97 0.99 and low errors (0.72 g/100g), proving the QA applications of NIRS.
