Why the study?
Patients with bicuspid aortic valves tend to develop dilation of the ascending aorta, but the impact of leaflet fusion pattern remains to be clarified.
Does bicuspid aortic valve leaflet fusion morphology impact aortopathy severity and aortic root diameter in young adults undergoing aortic valve replacement?
Does bicuspid aortic valve leaflet fusion morphology impact aortopathy severity and aortic root diameter in young adults undergoing aortic valve replacement?
R/N fusion may prompt closer preoperative aortic surveillance in BAV; leaves open long-term progression differences by pattern.
Objective: Patients with bicuspid aortic valves (BAV) tend to develop dilation of the ascending aorta. The study aim is to analyze the impact of leaflet fusion pattern on aorthopathy severity and differences in aortic root diameter and configuration in patients undergoing surgery for BAV and tricuspid aortic valve(TAV) disease.
