EF reduction post-cath may reflect contrast effects; leaves open clinical relevance and need for prospective confirmation.
Does angiographic contrast medium depress left ventricular function in patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization?
Angiographic contrast medium transiently depresses left ventricular ejection fraction up to 1 hour after diagnostic cardiac catheterization, an effect that is more frequent in patients with normal resting EF and may be masked by nitroglycerin use.
