The effect of infusion of 1.6–2. 2 μg/kg/min noradrenaline (NA) on the blood pressure and the blood flow in the hind part of the cat in nembutal anaesthesia was studied during normal and reduced ventilation. During normal ventilation NA infusion caused an increase both in blood pressure and flow while both effects were greatly diminished during reduced ventilation. It was further observed that in the latter condition the blood pressure response to carotid occlusion was still strong, in contrast to the effect of NA on systemic pressure.
