A zinc−zinc-bonded compound with a monoanionic α-diimine ligand, [LZn−ZnL] (L = [(2,6- i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 )NC(Me)] 2 − ) ( 3 ), has been synthesized by the reaction of ZnCl 2 and [Na 2 L]. The Zn−Zn bond distance (2.3403(18) Å) is shorter than that in the analogues with the dianionic ligand.
