In patients with type 2 diabetes, microalbuminuria correlates strongly with arterial hypertension, age of diabetes, and adverse lipid profiles.
Microalbuminuria was associated with hypertension and dyslipidemia in type 2 diabetes; hypothesis-generating and should not change practice without longitudinal data.
Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 is a chronic illness, serious, progressive, and together with HTA and other risk factors increases the risk of micro and macro vascular disease. The aim of the study to evaluate the microalbuminuria as the one of risk factor for patient with diabetes type 2 to have macro vascular disease and microalbuminuria can be considered as a predictor for macro vascular disease. Material and Methods: 158 patients with diabetes mellitus are included in the study, 36% of them (57) were females and 64% (101) were males. The age ranked from 43–86 years. The statistical analyze of the data is done using SPSS version 15.0. Results: There as a good correlation between microalbuminuria and arterial hypertension (r = 0699, p = 0,001); between microalbuminuria and the age of diabetes (r = 0310, p = 0.05); between microalbuminuria and systolic arterial blood pressure (p = 0015, r = 0,585), microalbuminuria and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0027, r = 0,343), microalbuminuria and HDL- (p = 0034, r = 0456), and microalbuminuria and LDL- (p = 0003, r = 0,421) Conclusions: It is a strong correlation between microalbuminuria and HTA, age of diabetes, level of HDL and LDL levels.
