Case observation of Valsalva hemodynamics in CHF; leaves open diagnostic or prognostic value pending larger studies.
In patients with congestive heart failure and a pressor response to the Valsalva maneuver, straining causes an initial rise in stroke volume and blood pressure, followed by a fall in stroke volume with maintained blood pressure elevation.
Ruskin et al. (1968) studied this question.
